The transfer in detail:
A English speaking driver of the LIS staff will come to pick you up on time in the agreed place, that is an apartment, a hotel or a street in Rome or, if you have just arrived, at the airport with a sign with your name on it. Once your luggage has been put away (your driver will keep them in case you want to stop somewhere along the way), after the presentations, you will leave in southerly direction, taking the “highway of the Sun” A1 Rome – Naples. After about two hours you will reach Cassino, where there will be a stop to rest a few minutes, or use the toilet.
Here in Cassino (booking first) it is possible to stop for a cultural visit of 1 hour to see the beautiful abbey of Monte Cassino, a splendid Benedictine monastery of the 5th century, located in a very suggestive place between earth and sky in the enchanting countryside of the south of the Lazio region.
Once the stop is over, you will go back to the journey. After about 1 hour you will reach Naples, even here it will be possible to stop and visit the city if you want, or you could just stop to taste the famous “true” pizza, in a historic pizzeria of the city.
It does not take long from Naples to get to the Amalfi Coast (about 1 hour and 30), but if you want and if you are not too tired from the highway ride just completed, you can visit the excavations of Pompeii or those of Herculaneum, both archaeological sites of the Roman era of inestimable cultural historical value, UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Leaving Pompeii, through highway 145, we will enter the Sorrento peninsula: a strip of land that extends into the Mediterranean Sea and outlines the beautiful Gulf of Naples to the south, along with the island of Capri. From one of the many viewpoints located on this beautiful road, you can stop to take great pictures! You will admire Sorrento, a town with a strong tourist vocation, built on a tuff plain, formed thanks to very ancient volcanic eruptions; you will be enchanted by the aromas of the orange and lemon gardens, which overlook the deep blue of the Gulf of Naples like a splendid terrace. At this point, from the Sorrento Peninsula, you will only be separated from the Amalfi Coast by about 30 minutes by car. You will drive on one of the most beautiful and suggestive roads in the world: at every bend it will seem to be breathless and to touch the sea and the sky with a finger!
You have arrived at your destination! Your transfer from Rome to the Amalfi Coast is concluded.
